KING, N.C. – August 28, 2008 – Northern Triad Soccer Club-King Youth Soccer League will receive support in the form of both funds and equipment from Stokes Tire & Automotive, Inc. of King and the Uniroyal® Soccer Program. Beginning on September 5 , children will receive a certificate good for a free soccer ball that can be redeemed at Stokes Tire & Automotive, Inc..

Throughout its nine-year history, the Uniroyal Soccer Program has been partnering tire dealers with youth soccer leagues as an effort to strengthen communities. The program and participating dealers have donated nearly $11 million in funds and equipment, including over 818,000 soccer balls, to youth sports programming across the country.

Soccer families also have the opportunity to enter Uniroyal’s “Soccer to Go” sweepstakes. The grand prize includes a mobile gaming system for the winner’s car, tires, a gas card, and a donation of $1,000 to their child’s soccer league; the first prize includes tires and a donation to the winner’s soccer league. '96 Stokes Spirits WIN 2007 FNB Star Cup Championship

The '96 Stokes Spirits take the 2007 FNB Star Cup Championship in the U11 age group in a tournament played November 10th and 11th in Roanoke, Virginia. Congratulations Spirits!!!

U11 Stokes Spirit Take Furniture City Classic Title

The Stokes Spirit competed in the Furniture City Classic Soccer Tournament held August 25^th and 26^th at the High Point Athletic Complex.

In game one, the Spirit shut out the PSA Stars 4-0. Elizabeth Nail scored on a penalty kick after Jordan Grubbs was taken down in the box. Jordan Moore added goal two while Anyssa VanMeter scored off a Taylor Hopper assist. Jordan Grubbs sealed the victory with an unassisted fourth score. Taylor Hopper and Alex Jellison together recorded seven saves to preserve the shut out.

In game two, the Spirit had to come from behind to defeat the Triangle Football Club. Though the Spirit was down 4-1, the Spirit did not yield. Morgan Snow began the scoring with an unassisted goal in the second half. Jordan Grubbs scored goal two off a Snow assist. Snow cashed in again off an Elizabeth Nail pass. Nail tied the score with a score after a Grubbs pass to the left side. Nail put the Spirit even with a shot just out of reach of the TFC keeper and Grubbs scored the winning goal off the assist by Olivia Boyette.

In the final game, the Spirit defeated DC United by a score of 4-0. Morgan Snow, Jordan Grubbs and Elizabeth Nail each scored in the match while Snow, Jordan Moore and Boyette were credited with assists. Defenders Ashlyn Hawkins, Jordan Moore, Jordan Grubbs, and Tori VanMeter allowed only one DC United shot in the match. This win earned the Spirit the Furniture City Classic Championship Title.

The Spirit will begin their regular season action Saturday September 8.

King Soccer Complex Dedication Ceremony - 8/25/2007

On Saturday morning, August 25, 2007 at 9:00AM a dedication ceremony was held at King Recreation Acres to open the new King Soccer Complex. Mayor Jack Warren, King City Manager John Cater represented the City of King, Asst. Chaplain Paul Norman offered an Invocation and Benediction, NTSC President Tom Hopper represented the league in the ceremonies. On hand for the ceremony was also, O.T. Fowler, Margaret Fowler, and Irene Fowler Gambill whos generous donation made this Soccer Complex possible. The complex was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony, and then the ceremonial first goal was scored by Mayor Jack Warren. The Northern Triad Soccer Club and King Youth Soccer Leagues are thankful for everyone who worked to make this complex possible! If you have not seen the new facilities yet, you need to go check them out. Several fields, a concession stand, walking trails around the fields, and a childrens playground are all in this new area of King Recreation Acres.

3v3 Live Soccer Tournament in High Point

On July 21, 2007, 5 members of the 94 NTSC Strikeforce U13 team played in a 3v3 Live Soccer Tournament in High Point and took third place in their division. This team consisted of Austin Snow, Matt Hopper, Jacob Harden, Thomas Hawkins, and Patrick Nail. Congratulations on placing in this event!

The '96 NTSC Stokes Spirits won their age group this past weekend in the TASC Beat the Heat tournament! The Spirits beat the TASC White team 7-1 in their first game, they won 3-1 against TCYSA Lady Twins Silver, won the semi-final match 6-0 against CVYSA Heat Green, and defeated the Lake Norman Soccer Club Red team 6-3 in the championship game!

The '94 NTSC Strikeforce won their age group this past weekend in the TASC Beat the Heat tournament! The Strikeforce beat the TASC White team 2-0 in their first game, they won 6-1 against East River Soccer, tied their third game against TCYSA Twins Gold, and defeated the runner-up GUS Extreme 2-1 to clinch the championship!

On Saturday August 5^th girls from King entered the 3v3 Live Soccer Tournament in High Point, N.C. Coached by Robert Kurucz and Brent Snow the team only had two practices to prepare themselves for the tournament. They entered the U-9 division with Jordan Grubbs, Taylor Hopper, Allison Kurucz, Elizabeth Nail, and Morgan Snow. After a hard fought match against GUS Wave, which included having to come back from a 3 to 1 deficit at halftime, the girls tied the game with just minutes to play. King Power advanced with a shootout win 2-1, placing them into the championship game against an all 9 year old team, the Winston-Salem Celtics. In the final game the King Power played all out and secured the championship with a 6-5 victory.

As soon as the U-9 match was over King Power U-8 squad took the field for the U-8 championship. The King Power 8 year old girls consisted of Allison Kurucz, Morgan Snow, Elizabeth Nail, and Jordan Grubbs. The girls dominated the match winning 3-0 against the Greensboro Heat.

NTSC Summer Skills Training Schedule

All of the NTSC Challenge tryout results will be posted to the NTSC site on Friday night. With the number of players trying out, and players trying out on different nights of the week this will allow all players to be evaluated and the results to be completed.

Each player will have 48 hours to contact the coach if they accept the position on the team.

Wildcat Soccer Camp 2006 - June 12-16

The 2006 Wildcat Soccer Camp will be at Pinnacle Elementary School from June 12-16. This full day camp is an excellent value that will teach the fundamentals of the game (Dribbling, Passing, Receiving, Shooting, and Defense), teach teamwork and build soccer friendships, and all players will have fun with games and competition. NCYSA State Cup - entries

The Northern Triad Soccer Club are proud to announce that the U12 NTSC Stokes Spirits girls and the U13 NTSC Surry Storm boys will be playing in the NCYSA State Cup on May 13-14 in Burlington. Each team will play in a preliminary round of three. If they advance they will play in a quarterfinal match Sunday afternoon with hopes of advancing to the semi-finals the following weekend in Greensboro. Please wish both teams success as they represent our club on their bid for the NCYSA State Cup.

Congratulations U10 Strike Force - Beat the Heat Tournament Finalist

The Stokes Strike Force U10 Soccer Team marched through the competition last weekend in Winston-Salem's Beat the Heat Soccer Tournament. In the first match, the Strike Force defeated the Greensboro United 3-2 and in the second match scored six second-half goals to beat the Burlington White 7-4. In Sunday morning's semifinal, the team cruised by the Yadkin Blue Ice 4-2 and earned their way into the championship against the Greensboro United. The Greensboro United's goalie made some spectacular saves, and despite being outplayed, the United squeaked by the Strike Force 5-4. The annual tournament features select travel teams from several states.

The Strike Force are from the Northern Triad Soccer Club and features players from all over the county (King-5, Walnut Cove-2, Lawsonville-1). The Strike Force wrapped up their inaugural season with a winning regular-season record, a 3rd place league finish, and a Championship appearance. Tryouts for the team will be held on May 22th, at 5:30, at Pinnacle Elementary School. All other tryout info can be found at www.ntsoccerclub.com.

King Youth Soccer League Registration for Recreation Soccer
